Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh Killed In Iran's Capital, Hamas confirms
The Palestinian group said in a statement today that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed in an attack on their residence in Iran. Hamas said Ismail Haniyeh was killed Tuesday morning in a "traitorous Zionist attack on his residence in Tehran." The group said an investigation was underway to determine the details of the attack. Haniyeh had been in the Iranian capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian. "Our brother and mentor, Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, leader of the movement, was killed in a Zionist attack on our headquarters in Tehran after attending the inauguration of the new (Iranian) president," the statement said.
