"I heard an explosion...": Locomotive driver's claim after Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailment, Uttar Pradesh Police denies

The locomotive driver of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express claimed that he heard a loud explosion just in front of a few coaches of the train. The derailment occurred at Gonda in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. DGP Prashant Kumar, however, said there was no explosion in the train accident.


At least three people have been reported killed and many injured in the incident. Medical staff and emergency teams are at the spot. The train driver also said that he had to apply the emergency brakes as he heard an explosion behind him, according to government officials.

The driver further said he had had to make an emergency stop after hearing an explosion behind him, government officials said.
