Seven shot, one dead in Rochester, New York park
One person was killed and at least six injured in a shooting at an upstate New York park on Sunday.
Rochester police said they were called to a large group of people in Maplewood Park, where the shooting occurred around 6:20 p.m., and found several people with gunfire injuries.
One adult in his 20s was killed, another suffered life-threatening injuries, and five others were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to Capt. Greg Bello.
Bello said the identity of the shooting victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the park, including the Irondequoit Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Rochester Police Department and New York State Police. Rochester Police confirmed there was a party in the area at the time of the shooting.
"At this time, we don't know how many people fired the gun," Bello said. "We're trying to interview as many witnesses as we can."
Police said no suspects have been arrested.
Police asked anyone with video of the shooting to submit it to the Major Crimes Unit, contact Crime Stoppers or call 311 or 911 with more information.
Rochester is about 340 miles (547 kilometers) northwest of Manhattan.
