The Moroccan registered DF-10 type aircraft crashed in the Topkana mountain range near Qibak in the Kuran-Munjan district of Badakhshan province.

According to Reuters, local officials stated that the plane crashed in Badakshan province in northern Afghanistan on Saturday night. The incident took place in a mountainous region.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that the plane that crashed in the mountains of Afghanistan was not a scheduled or non-scheduled (NSOP)/charter flight belonging to India. ANI reported that the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that the Moroccan registered DF-10

aircraft crashed in the Topkana mountains near Kuran-Munjan and Zibak districts of Badakhshan province.

Local authorities have not confirmed the type of aircraft and the death toll. Meanwhile, Russian aviation officials said contact was lost with a Russian-registered plane carrying six passengers over Afghanistan on Saturday night. The aircraft is a French-made Dassault Falcon 10 jet. Reuters reported that the plane was a charter flight from India to Moscow via Uzbekistan.

The Federal Foreign Office also announced that the plane was an air ambulance from Thailand to Moscow. However, the office added that the plane landed at Gaya Airport for refueling.
