Rahul Gandhi slams Assam CM Sarma after Congress yatra stopped: ‘Free publicity…will benefit us’
Congress's Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, calling him one of the most corrupt leaders in the country. The Congress leader is leading the party's Manipur wing towards the Mumbai Bharat Chodonia Iyatra. Earlier today, Congress workers, who were banned from entering Guwahati city, clashed with Assam police.
Rahul Gandhi said at a press conference: "The problem in Assam is that the chief minister of the state is one of the most corrupt leaders in the country... What the chief minister of Assam is designed for the pilgrimage. This is really useful for the pilgrimage." Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has become a big issue in Assam. Not going to temples and colleges... that's their way. Fool, we are not afraid of them, we are not afraid of them.
Earlier on Tuesday, Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the state director general of police (DGP) to file a case against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly "inciting mobs".
Sarma shared on social media platform X that "Naxalite tactics" are not compatible with Assamese culture.
