Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is working on a "comprehensive plan" to end the war. The statement came just weeks after he hosted an international peace summit, to which Russia was not even invited.

As the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is working on a "comprehensive plan" for how he wants to end the war. The Ukrainian president's statement was released on Friday. However, there are currently no public talks taking place between the two warring nations.


President Zelensky hosted a key international peace summit in Switzerland earlier this month, but Russia was not invited to the event. "It is very important for us to present a plan to end the war that is supported by the majority of the world," the Ukrainian president said on Friday.

"This is the diplomatic path we are working on," he added. Zelensky made the comments at a joint press conference with Slovenian President Natasa Pirk-Musar.


Is the world nearing an end to war?


Addressing media in Brussels on Thursday, the Ukrainian president said he would present a "detailed plan" on how to end the war "within a few months." He stressed that Kiev "doesn't have much time," citing the high level of soldier and civilian casualties, according to AFP.


More than 90 countries were represented at the two-day summit hosted by Zelenskiy in Switzerland. The two countries were expected to meet to discuss ending the war, but the other belligerent, Russia, was excluded from the summit.
