The number of deaths during the hajj season from 1445 AH to 2024 reached 1,301, Health Minister Fahd al-Jalajel said on Sunday, June 23. Speaking to the media, Al-Jalajel said that 83 percent of those who died were travelers who did not travel. have the appropriate permissions.


Al-Jalajel said these unauthorized travelers travel without shelter or comfort, away from direct sunlight. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), many elderly people and patients with chronic diseases are among the dead.

"The health system is facing a large number of cases of violence this year, some of which are still being treated," the minister added.


He expressed his condolences to the deceased and his family and stated that the necessary procedures were followed for the identification, burial and commemoration of the deceased and issued a death certificate. Al-Jalajel said 1.3 million preventive services were provided upon arrival, including early diagnosis, vaccination and medical treatment. More than 30,000 ambulance services have been provided, including open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, dialysis, and emergency treatment; Among them, many painful medical services were provided in the medical city all over the country, including 95 air ambulances. The hospital has approximately 6,500 beds and rooms and has developed equipment to respond to emergencies by quickly and effectively rescuing affected people.


In particular, the health system provides more than 465,000 special services, of which 141,000 are for people who are not allowed to perform the Hajj. The victims included more than 650 Egyptians, 98 Indians, 32 Indonesians, 60 Jordanians, 53 Tunisians, 35 Pakistanis, 13 Kurdish Iraqis, 11 Iranians and 3 Senegalese.
