Donald Trump considering military action to take Greenland? Here’s the statement from the US President

US President Donald Trump reaffirmed his interest in annexing Greenland, asserting that he has “absolutely” engaged in genuine discussions regarding the acquisition of the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

“We will obtain Greenland. Yes, 100%,” Trump declared during a phone interview with NBC News.

Military options remain possible

Though Trump highlighted that diplomatic solutions could facilitate annexation, he did not eliminate the possibility of a more aggressive strategy.

“There’s a strong chance we could accomplish it without resorting to military force,” he remarked, but also noted, “I keep all options available.”

Global consequences of the acquisition

When questioned about the larger geopolitical importance of acquiring Greenland, Trump downplayed worries about international opinions.

“I don’t really focus on that. I’m not particularly concerned. Greenland is a very distinct issue, quite different. It relates to global peace and international security and strength,” he explained. Trump also mentioned foreign naval presence near Greenland as a point of concern.

“There are vessels operating around Greenland from Russia, China, and various other nations. We will not permit actions that could harm the world or the United States,” he stated.

At this time, Denmark has not issued a response to Trump’s recent comments.

Vice President Vance’s trip to Greenland

Trump’s statements followed a day after Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, toured the Pituffik Space Base, a US Space Force facility located on the northwestern shore of Greenland. During this visit, Vance criticized Denmark’s administration of the area.

“Our message to Denmark is quite straightforward: You have failed to adequately serve the people of Greenland, you have underfunded the individuals here, and you have not sufficiently invested in the security framework of this magnificent, beautiful land, home to remarkable people,” Vance remarked.
