Donald Trump states that he maintains "strong ties with India," while pointing out "the only issue."
Trump has previously condemned the elevated tariffs imposed by India and other nations, labeling them as “extremely unjust” and declared that reciprocal tariffs would begin on April 2.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump expressed that he has a “very good relationship” with India. Nevertheless, he remarked that his sole issue with the nation is that it ranks “among the highest tariffing countries globally.”
“I maintain a solid relationship with India, but the only issue I face is that they impose some of the highest tariffs in the world. I believe they will likely decrease those tariffs significantly, but beginning April 2, we will implement the same tariffs that they apply to us,” Trump shared with Breitbart News, a platform for American news, opinion, and commentary.
Trump referred to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor as a “collection of fantastic nations” coming together, “counteracting other nations that aim to harm us in trade.”
“We have a strong coalition of trade partners,” Trump stated.
“Once more, we cannot allow those partners to mistreat us; nonetheless, in many respects, we actually fare better with our adversaries than we do with our allies,” the Republican leader noted.
