Pawan Kalyan's critique of Tamil Nadu's perceived 'hypocrisy': They translate Tamil films into Hindi

Pawan Kalyan's critique of Tamil Nadu's perceived 'hypocrisy': They translate Tamil films into Hindi

Pawan Kalyan's comments arise amidst a contentious argument between the BJP-led central government and the DMK-led Tamil Nadu concerning the 'three-language policy' included in the New Education Policy.

Stepping into the language debate, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, labeled Tamil Nadu as hypocritical, asserting that its leaders permit the dubbing of Tamil cinema into Hindi for profit while simultaneously opposing the language itself. During the foundation day speech of his party, the head of Janasena stated that India requires a variety of languages, including Tamil, to maintain the nation's unity.

"In Tamil Nadu, there is significant resistance to the enforcement of Hindi. This leads me to question, if Hindi is unwelcome, then why do they allow Tamil movies to be translated into Hindi for monetary profits? They seek financial benefits from Bollywood yet deny the language. What sort of reasoning is that?" remarked the leader of Janasena.

Kalyan also emphasized that it is "unjust" for Tamil Nadu to accept laborers from Hindi-speaking regions like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar while simultaneously dismissing the language. Tamil Nadu hosts many migrant workers from states such as Haryana, UP, Bihar, and West Bengal, with estimates suggesting their numbers range from 15 to 20 lakh.

"They seek income from Hindi-speaking areas like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh yet claim to reject Hindi. Isn't that unfair? They accept laborers from Bihar while dismissing the language. What accounts for this inconsistency? Shouldn't they reconsider this perspective?" he added.

Pawan Kalyan's statements take place during a period when the BJP-led central government and the DMK-led Tamil Nadu are in a serious dispute regarding the 'three-language policy' present in the New Education Policy.
