Tulsi Gabbard criticizes the 'hypocrisy' of Europe and its 'anti-freedom policies' after the Trump-Zelenskyy encounter.
Tulsi Gabbard has denounced European countries for their contradictory stance in supporting Ukraine while also enforcing anti-freedom measures. During a Fox News interview, Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, harshly criticized European allies for their “anti-freedom policies,” while they continue to back Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Her comments followed a heated interaction at the Oval Office on Friday between U.S. President Donald Trump and Zelenskyy. After their discussion, European nations reiterated their support for Ukraine, which Gabbard considered inconsistent with their professed democratic values.
Gabbard critiques Europe’s ‘anti-freedom policies.’
In a segment on Fox News Sunday, host Shannon Bream inquired about Russian leaders allegedly celebrating the tensions between Trump and Zelenskyy. Gabbard seized the opportunity to highlight what she perceives as European hypocrisy.
“They will articulate whatever aligns with their own interests. Our focus in America should be on what serves the needs of our citizens,” stated Gabbard. “Numerous Americans are acknowledging the strong leadership exhibited by President Trump and Vice President Vance during the Oval Office discussions.”
She went on to claim that the Biden administration has fallen short in providing such effective leadership and commended Trump for emphasizing peace talks. Gabbard maintained that European leaders are compromising democratic values by introducing restrictive measures while professing to champion freedom. She added, “We clearly saw during Vice President Vance’s address in Munich various instances of how these European nations and longstanding allies are, in reality, adopting policies that weaken democracy. This indicates a lack of genuine belief in hearing the people's voices and enforcing anti-freedom regulations.”
She pointed out that this has been particularly observable in the UK, Germany, and Romania, where election outcomes were overturned.
