Foreign leaders attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony
India has invited several leaders from neighbouring countries to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will become Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. The ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today at 7.15 pm.
The same evening, the Council of Ministers will also take the oath of office and secrecy and become part of the Prime Minister's new Cabinet.
The Ministry of External Affairs said several heads of state have accepted the invitation and are expected to arrive in New Delhi on Sunday to attend the ceremony.

High alert will continue in the national capital on Sunday as SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) leaders prepare to attend the event, Delhi Police told news agency PTI. Major hotels like the Leela, Taj, ITC Maurya, Claridge's and Oberoi have already been kept under tight security. Authorities have established secure routes for dignitaries to travel between the hotels and the venue.
"Dignitaries attending the swearing-in ceremony will be provided with designated routes to and from the venue from their hotels," officials said.
Besides attending the swearing-in ceremony, the politicians will also attend a dinner hosted by President Dhruvdi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the evening. The meeting is aimed at facilitating high-level exchange of views and discussions on issues of common interest.
