Budget 2025: Anticipations for Tomorrow Based on FM Nirmala Sitharaman's Previous Budget Address
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to unveil her eighth Budget for 2025-26 this Saturday. This budget is expected to draw significant attention, given the current slowdown in the nation’s economy and reduced consumer spending. In her previous Budget for 2024-25, FM Sitharaman outlined a vision for 'Viksit Bharat' and introduced several initiatives that could influence future budgets. Here’s our outlook for the Union Budget 2025-26, rooted in FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s prior Budget Address for 2024-25.
During her presentation of the last Budget for 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman identified nine key priorities as part of the strategy for realizing ‘Viksit Bharat’, stating that “future budgets will expand upon this”.
The 'Nine Priorities' for 'Viksit Bharat' and Upcoming Budgets
The nine key areas include ‘increasing productivity and resilience in agriculture’, ‘creating jobs and skills development’, ‘fostering inclusive human resource development and promoting social justice’, ‘enhancing manufacturing and services’, ‘developing urban areas’, ‘ensuring energy security’, ‘improving infrastructure’, ‘advancing innovation, research and development’, and ‘implementing next-generation reforms’. “Future budgets will expand these priorities and include more actions,” Sitharaman stated on July 23, 2024, during her last budget announcement for 2024.
Thus, this will be a major focal point to observe in the forthcoming Budget on Saturday.
