"Stop It Now": UK Teen Interrupts His Sentencing for Triple Murder
Eighteen-year-old Axel Rudakubana was responsible for the deaths of three girls during a Taylor Swift-themed summer event last July, leaving two of the victims with "horrific injuries."
On Monday, Rudakubana acknowledged his guilt for the murders committed in Southport, a town in northern England. This tragic event triggered several days of unrest across the country.
He took the lives of six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar, inflicting over 85 and 122 sharp force injuries on two of the girls, according to prosecutor Heer.
The courtroom experienced a wave of horror as video evidence showcased the chaos, with terrified young girls fleeing the scene. One injured girl was seen collapsing outside, resulting in gasps and cries from onlookers.
In addition to the triple murder, he admitted to 10 counts of attempted murder linked to the attack, along with charges of manufacturing the deadly toxin ricin and possessing a manual related to al Qaeda training.
Before Rudakubana’s outburst, Heer stated that his actions were not motivated by any political or religious beliefs.
"His only intent was to kill, focusing on the youngest and most defenseless victims to maximize the fear and outrage he aimed to create, which he successfully accomplished," she affirmed.
While in custody after the event, Rudakubana was reportedly heard making chilling remarks such as, "It's a good thing those children are dead... I’m so glad... so happy."
Heer also noted that various images and documents discovered on his computer indicated a disturbing, long-term fascination with violence, murder, and genocide.
