In an incident that occurred last night in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh, a Maoist with a reward of Rs 1 crore was counted among the 20 individuals who died during a clash with security forces. Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the mission as a "significant achievement."
During the gunfight, Jayaram Reddy, also known as Chalapati, was shot dead as the exchange unfolded in a forested region along the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border.
The operation involved a collaborative effort from security teams including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Chhattisgarh's CoBRA, and Odisha's Special Operation Group (SOG).
This mission was initiated based on intelligence indicating the presence of Maoists within the Kularighat reserve forest in Chhattisgarh, located just five kilometers from the Nuapada district border in Odisha.
