"Turning Point": PM Modi Comments on Waqf Bill Passing

The Prime Minister, currently in Thailand and Sri Lanka, stated that the new law will particularly benefit "those who have long been excluded, thereby losing both a voice and opportunities."

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill passing through Parliament signifies a "turning point" in the nation's shared pursuit of social and economic fairness, transparency, and inclusive development, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister, currently in Thailand and Sri Lanka, noted that the new law will especially aid "those who have long been excluded, thereby losing both a voice and opportunities."

He expressed gratitude to parliamentary members who shared their views and helped enhance the legislation. "A heartfelt thank you goes to the many individuals who provided their valuable insights to the Parliamentary committee. Once again, the significance of thorough discussion and communication has been reinforced," he remarked.

"For many years, the Waqf system was associated with a lack of clarity and accountability, which particularly affected Muslim women, economically disadvantaged Muslims, and Pasmanda Muslims. The laws enacted by Parliament will enhance transparency and also protect individuals' rights," he stated on X.
