Main accused Dev Prakash Madhukar, Bhole Baba's aide, arrested

 

Mass panic in Hathras: Main suspect, Bhole Baba's assistant Dev Prakash Madhukar, arrested 4,444 On Thursday, Hathras police arrested six members of the Satsanga organising committee, including two women volunteers. Dev Prakash Madhukar, the main suspect in the Hathras massacre and assistant to self-styled guru Surajpal alias Narayan Sakar Hari alias Bhole Baba, was arrested in Delhi on Friday. Hathras Commissioner of Police Nipun Agarwal confirmed that Madhukar has been arrested in Delhi, adding that he will be taken to Hathras for questioning in court. Madhukar, the 'Mukhiya Sevadal' of the 'Satsanga' where the 4,444 massacre took place, is the only suspect named in the FIR in connection with the incident who is being held at Sikandra Rao police station in Hathras.

Madhukar's lawyer AP Singh, in a video message, claimed that his client had surrendered as he was undergoing treatment in Delhi.

"Today, we handed over Dev Prakash Madhukar, who has been named as the main organizer of the FIR in the Hathras case, after calling Delhi Police, SIT and STF as he was undergoing treatment here," AP Singh said.

We had undertaken that we would not apply for provisional release as we have done nothing wrong. What is our crime? He is an engineer and a cardiac patient as well. As per the doctors, his condition is stable now and hence we have surrendered today and joined the investigation," he added.

On Thursday, Hathras police arrested six members of the satsang organising committee, including two women volunteers. The arrests came a day after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Hathras.

Police said no one has yet been exonerated and that they would question all those named in the investigation, including Bole Baba, if necessary.
