'Can't Win Against': Top Fundraiser George Clooney Urges Biden To Quit
George Clooney -- a member of the Hollywood elite that provides key support to the Democrats -- joined a growing list of public figures calling for Biden, 81, to step aside after his terrible debate performance against Donald Trump last month. A self-described "lifelong Democrat," Clooney co-hosted a star-studded fundraiser with Biden in Los Angeles only last month featuring former president Barack Obama.
The Biden campaign said that the event brought in a record $28 million.
"It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010," Clooney wrote, referencing a famous hot-mic clip from Biden's vice presidency.

"He wasn't even Joe Biden in 2020. He was the same guy we all saw in the debates," Clooney said, contradicting Biden's claim that his poor performance in the debates was an isolated incident.
"A dam has broken" among Democrats who have publicly called on Biden to withdraw, Clooney said, calling for more remarks.
"Leading Democrats, Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Nancy Pelosi, and any senator, congressman or other candidate facing defeat in November, must call on this president to voluntarily step down."
The Oscar winner dismissed concerns that Biden's resignation would cause chaos. Democrats want Trump out of power and did not endorse a replacement candidate months before the election. The party should listen to candidates like Vice President Kamala Harris and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, "so we can go to the Democratic Convention next month and sort things out," he wrote.
