Amid Thaw In India-China Ties, A Foreign Ministers' Meet On G20 Sidelines

During a meeting on the G20 sidelines in Rio de Janeiro, India's External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi discussed the progress in their bilateral relationship, including recent disengagement efforts in border areas. The two leaders also talked about future steps in their ties and exchanged views on global matters.

This meeting follows a previous discussion between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Russia during the BRICS summit. This encounter came shortly after India and China reached a significant patrolling arrangement along the Line of Actual Control, marking a positive turning point in their relationship after tensions escalated following the Galwan Valley clash in 2020.

Ahead of the G20 summit, China expressed readiness to implement key agreements made between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi, showing a commitment to enhancing communication, cooperation, and strategic mutual trust with India. This effort signifies a continued effort towards building stronger ties between the two countries.
