DRDO successfully conducted a flight-trial of India's first long-range hypersonic missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on November 16, 2024. This missile is capable of carrying various payloads for distances exceeding 1,500 kms for the Armed Forces.
The missile's trajectory was monitored by multiple range systems across different domains. Data from down range ship stations confirmed precise terminal maneuvers and impact.
Developed domestically by labs at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad, in collaboration with various DRDO labs and Industry Partners, this missile has been tested in the presence of senior DRDO scientists and Armed Forces officers.
Taking to X, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh hailed the flight-trial as a historic milestone propelling India into an elite group of nations with such cutting-edge military technologies. He praised DRDO, the Armed Forces, and the Industry for the successful trial.
