Day After Attack On CM Biren Singh's House, 23 Arrested; Total Curfew In Imphal

Following an attack on the private residence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh in Imphal, the Manipur Police have arrested 23 individuals for their alleged involvement in the ransacking and arson of houses belonging to MLAs.

Violent incidents occurred across parts of the Imphal Valley districts as mobs targeted the homes of several MLAs and caused property damage, reportedly in response to the deaths of six individuals whose bodies were discovered in Jiribam. These individuals were said to have been abducted by militants.

Locals reported finding the bodies, which included that of an eight-month-old child, in the Barak River. They had been missing since Monday, following clashes in which 10 armed Kuki men were killed in a confrontation with security forces.

The Manipur Police stated that eight individuals were injured during attempts to disperse the mob, and 23 individuals involved in the ransacking and arson have been arrested.
