Could Have Constructed Sheeshmahal For Myself, However...: PM Critiques Arvind Kejriwal
The recent opening of newly built apartments signifies the conclusion of the second effective In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally opened 1,675 apartments designated for 'Jhuggi - Jhopri' (JJ) clusters along with two urban redevelopment initiatives within the capital city. During the event, the Prime Minister also took a jab at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and the official residence of Delhi's Chief Minister.
"The nation is well aware that Modi has not constructed a home for his own use, but has facilitated the building of over 4 crore homes for those in need; 'mai bhi koi sheeshmahal bana sakta tha' (I too could have created a Sheeshmahal)," stated PM Modi at the gathering, referencing the recent accusations concerning extravagant spending on the residence of the Chief Minister of Delhi.
This remark pointed to an inventory disclosed in October by the Public Works Department (PWD), which listed premium appliances and gadgets allegedly valued at crores that were set up in the Chief Minister's bungalow. This issue has turned into a significant political dispute between the BJP and AAP.
"In these past 10 years, Delhi has been engulfed in 'aapada' (disaster). A few 'kattar beimaan' (highly dishonest) individuals, using Anna Hazare as a front, have led Delhi into 'aapada'. 'AAP has come down upon Delhi like a disaster'," PM Modi commented.
"Currently, India stands as a beacon of political and economic stability. This role will only grow stronger by 2025. This forthcoming year will mark a critical period for elevating India's global standing. It will be the moment for establishing India as one of the leading manufacturing hubs on the planet," he continued.
On his X account, PM Modi previously expressed that this is a significant moment for the progress of Delhi.
"Today signifies a vital moment for the development of Delhi. At an event in Ashok Vihar, I will be inaugurating and laying the groundwork for various development initiatives that will enhance the 'Ease of Living' for the residents of Delhi," he declared.
The recent opening of newly constructed flats marked the end of the second successful In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
PM Modi presented keys to eligible recipients of EWS flats at Swabhiman Apartments located in the Ashok Vihar region.
For every 25 lakh rupees allocated for flat construction by the central government, the eligible recipients contribute less than seven percent of the total expenses, which includes a nominal fee of 1.42 lakh rupees and 30,000 rupees for five years of maintenance.
