ISRO’s SpaDeX captures a stunning selfie with Earth

ISRO’s SpaDeX captures a stunning selfie with Earth. Check it out here.

The SpaDeX project consists of two satellites — SDX01 (the Chaser) and SDX02 (the Target) — created for docking in low Earth orbit. The goal of this mission is to showcase accurate navigation and secure docking capabilities in orbit, which are essential technologies for building future space stations and exploring deep space.

The Chaser satellite from SpaDeX has successfully recorded its first video of Earth from space, providing a breathtaking view of the planet's colorful oceans and dynamic clouds.

This video was shared by ISRO on X on January 4 and represents a significant achievement in the Indian space agency's ambitious autonomous docking initiative.

On December 30, during the PSLV-C60 mission, two SpaDeX satellites were successfully placed into orbit. As of December 31, 2024, the rocket's fourth stage, with the POEM-4 platform, has been circling Earth at an altitude of 350 km and supporting 24 experiments onboard.

The newly released video, captured while the satellite traveled around 400 km above Earth, highlights its sophisticated imaging capabilities and indicates its preparedness for the upcoming crucial stage of the mission.

The Chaser satellite is scheduled to dock with the target satellite in space on January 7, positioning India as the fourth nation to achieve this cutting-edge technology, joining Russia, the US, and China.
