Rocket fire from Lebanon killed four Thai nationals in Israel, according to Thailand's foreign minister. Maris Sangiampongsa expressed his deep sadness over the deaths near the town of Metula on Thursday. Another Thai citizen was also injured. The leader of the regional council in Metula announced on Thursday night that five individuals were fatally wounded in the rocket attack from Lebanon. The casualties included a local farmer and four foreign farm workers. Approximately 30,000 Thai citizens reside in Israel, where wages are significantly higher than in Thailand. These individuals have faced severe challenges since the conflict with Hamas began, with a minimum of 39 fatalities resulting from the October 7, 2023 assault on southern Israel. Over 25 individuals were reportedly taken captive by militants during the incident. 

In a short November ceasefire, 23 Thais were freed from being held captive.

The Israeli army reported that two Thai citizens lost their lives while being held captive in Gaza in May.

Following over 11 months of conflicts across borders, causing displacement of many on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border, the Israeli army escalated air attacks on Hezbollah in mid-September and then conducted limited ground operations in southern Lebanon.
