US President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday announced that his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, will be his White House chief of staff. Wiles, 67, will be the initial woman to occupy the role in US history.
"Susie Wiles just aided me in achieving one of the most significant political triumphs in American history, and played a crucial role in both my 2016 and 2020 victorious campaigns," Trump stated two days following his decisive US election victory over Democrat Kamala Harris.
She is "tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected," the 78-year-old Republican remarked.
"It is a well-deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history," he remarked. Wiles, along with campaign manager Chris LaCivita, are credited with Trump's successful presidential campaign. Trump mentioned Wiles in his victory speech, calling her "ice baby". "Susie prefers to remain behind the scenes," he stated.
US Vice President-elect JD Vance described it as "exciting news" and expressed that Susie was a "valuable resource" to Trump during the campaign.
"She will be a valuable asset in the White House." "She's also really kind," he mentioned.

Born on May 14, 1957, Susie Wiles is the daughter of Pat Summerall, a well-known football player and sportscaster. A seasoned political strategist from Florida, she has experience working on high-profile campaigns such as Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign and assisting in Florida Governor Ron DeSantis's successful election in 2018. Earlier in her career, she also contributed to the campaigns of Republican US representatives Jack Kemp and Tillie Fowler. Additionally, Wiles briefly managed former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman Jr.'s 2012 presidential campaign.
