Boeing implements extensive job cuts within Washington and California as part of its workforce downsizing strategy
Reports indicate that almost 400 workers in Washington and more than 500 in California have been impacted by this recent set of layoffs at Boeing.
Boeing, recognized as one of the leading aerospace firms globally, has executed the termination of hundreds of employees in both Washington state and California, aligning with its previously disclosed initiative to decrease its labor force by about 17,000 positions, as reported by the Associated Press.
As per reports released on Monday, almost 400 individuals in Washington and over 500 in California were influenced by this recent wave of layoffs. The aerospace titan had previously announced intentions to reduce its workforce by 10% in the upcoming months to manage persistent financial and operational difficulties.
‘Consequences of excessive staffing’
These layoffs occurred following a two-month strike involving Boeing machinists; however, CEO Kelly Ortberg emphasized that the job reductions were not a direct consequence of the strike. “This was a consequence of excessive staffing,” Ortberg stated, as cited by the Associated Press.
