Mohali building collapse toll reaches 2 as man’s body pulled out of debris 

The toll from the building collapse in Mohali rose to two on Sunday, as the corpse of a man was retrieved from the rubble.


SDM Damandeep Kaur verified the information. The individual who lost his life has been named as Abhishek Dhanwal, hailing from Ambala, employed by an IT company.


Rescue efforts commenced on the second day on Sunday, involving personnel from the NDRF and the Army. 

As per the officials of the NDRF, five individuals were trapped beneath the debris when the four-story structure in Sohana fell due to excavation activities occurring in the neighboring property.


A 20-year-old female from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh had unfortunately died from her wounds on Saturday. Drishti was working at a private enterprise in Mohali. 

The structure was situated within a highly populated vicinity. A gym was operational in the basement and on the ground floor, while the two upper levels accommodated the PG facility, the police reported, noting that excavation work was being performed in the adjacent land. Municipal Corporation officials stated that no authorization had been obtained for the construction activities.
