On Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden denounced the missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukraine, reaffirming the unwavering backing from the United States for Ukraine.
Additionally, he announced that the U.S. Department of Defense would enhance the supply of weapons to Ukraine and urged the global community to unite in solidarity with the nation.
"In the early hours of Christmas, Russia initiated a series of missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian urban centers and vital energy infrastructure. The intent of this appalling assault was to deprive the Ukrainian populace of access to heating and electricity throughout the winter months and to jeopardize the security of its energy grid," Biden stated in a declaration.
"Let me clarify: the people of Ukraine have the right to live in safety and peace, and both the United States and the global community must persist in supporting Ukraine until it prevails against Russia's acts of aggression," he added.
In his statement, Joe Biden emphasized the U.S. defense assistance provided to Ukraine and how this country will persist in bolstering Ukraine's defenses against Russia. "In the past few months, the United States has supplied Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles, and additional supplies are forthcoming. I have instructed the Department of Defense to maintain its ramp-up of weapon deliveries to Ukraine, and the United States will not cease its efforts to bolster Ukraine’s position in its defense against Russian military actions," he stated further.
Earlier on Christmas Day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned Russia for executing a significant missile and drone assault during the Christmas festivities, which targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure and labeled the attack as "inhumane."
