ISRO's GSLV Mission in January Will Mark the 100th Launch From Sriharikota

The PSLV-C60 mission, which took place on Monday, represented the 99th launch from Sriharikota and effectively positioned two spacecraft to perform the Space Docking Experiment in a circular orbit, as stated by ISRO Chairman S Somanath. ISRO is preparing to reach an important milestone with a Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle mission set to occur in January, which will be the 100th launch from the Sriharikota spaceport, according to a senior official.

The PSLV-C60 mission, launched on Monday, was the 99th from Sriharikota and successfully positioned two spacecraft for the Space Docking Experiment within a circular orbit, as mentioned by ISRO Chairman S Somanath.

“So, all of you have witnessed the spectacular lift-off and the launch of the SpaDeX (Space Docking Experiment) rocket, and for us, this marks the 99th launch of any vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, which is a significant milestone. Therefore, we are aiming for the 100th launch at the start of the upcoming year,” he remarked.

Mr. Somanath, who also serves as the Secretary of the Department of Space, was addressing reporters following the effective placement of the Space Docking Experiment spacecraft A and B into a circular orbit by the PSLV-C60 mission.

Regarding future missions planned by ISRO, Somanath commented, “In 2025, we will initiate numerous missions, starting with the GSLV launching the (navigation satellite) NVS-02 in January.” In May 2023, ISRO successfully deployed a navigation satellite aboard the GSLV-F12/NVS-01 rocket. This GSLV rocket successfully positioned the NVS-01 navigation satellite, which weighs approximately 2,232 kg, into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
