"Incorrectly Chosen Vehicle": Elon Musk Remarks on Cybertruck Blast Near Trump Hotel
Authorities verified that the blast was caused by materials contained in the truck's bed, such as fireworks, gas cylinders, and camping fuel.
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk asserted that the incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck near the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas was an act of terrorism. Mr. Musk indicated that the electric vehicle’s design effectively mitigated the explosion's force, protecting the hotel from extensive damage.
"The malicious fools selected the wrong vehicle for a terrorist plot. The Cybertruck effectively contained the detonation and directed the explosion upwards. Not even the lobby's glass doors were shattered," Mr. Musk shared on X.
The incident took place early on Thursday morning when a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck, allegedly rented via the car-sharing service Turo, burst into flames outside the main entrance of the Trump International Hotel. According to the Las Vegas police, the explosion led to one fatality and seven injuries.
The injured parties sustained minor injuries, and the hotel was evacuated as a safety measure.
Authorities confirmed that the explosion stemmed from items stored in the truck's bed, including fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel. These items were linked to a detonation mechanism thought to have been operated by the driver.
