If I Change Name Of Your House, Will It Become...': Jaishankar Hits Out China's Renaming Of Indian Territory

Days after rejecting Beijing's false claim over Arunachal Pradesh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has once again criticized China for giving a new name to Indian territory.

Sanctions imposed on Jaishankar by China released its fourth list of 30 new names in Arunachal Pradesh. India has always opposed China changing the names of places in Arunachal Pradesh, and the fact that the state gives "real" names, claiming that it is an integral part of the country, does not change this fact.

Addressing the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, Jaishankar said: "If I change the name of your house today, will it be mine? Arunachal Pradesh is a state of India and will remain so." Changing the name will have no effect. "Our troops are deployed there (Line of Actual Control)," he was quoted as saying by ANI in response to a question about China renaming Indian territory.

Last week, China's Ministry of Civil Affairs released four gazetteer models for southern Tibet. . Zangnan is the Chinese name for Arunachal Pradesh, which Beijing claims is part of southern Tibet. According to state media Global Times, the Chinese government announced 30 more names in the region. The Ministry of Justice announced the first batch of 6 domains in Southern Tibet in 2017, the second batch of 15 domains in 2021, and the additional 11 domains in 2023.
