Donald Trump ridicules Justin Trudeau following dinner meeting: ‘Governor of Canada’
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a meal with US President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, where they talked about Trump’s warning concerning a potential 25 percent tariff on Canada.
US President-elect Donald Trump ridiculed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the social media site Truth Social, labeling him as the “Governor of Canada.”
Previously, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau traveled to Mar-a-Lago for an evening meal with US President-elect Donald Trump, where they discussed Trump’s caution about enforcing a 25 percent tariff on Canada if the nation does not take measures to reduce the influx of illegal migration and unauthorized substances into the United States.
In a post on Truth Social deriding the Canadian prime minister, Trump commented, “It was enjoyable to dine the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada.”
During their meal, when Trudeau cautioned that a 25 percent tariff would severely harm the Canadian economy, President-elect Donald Trump allegedly proposed that Canada could potentially become the 51st state of the United States. Trump reiterated this idea in an interview with NBC News over the weekend and once more in a post on Tuesday.
This proposition, often used as a subject for jokes, aligns with Trump’s pattern of provocative statements, especially on social media, which are occasionally interpreted as either humor or bravado.
“I eagerly anticipate seeing the Governor again in the near future so we can continue our comprehensive discussions on Tariffs and Trade, the outcomes of which will be genuinely remarkable for everyone! DJT,” Trump stated in his post.
