President Joe Biden has granted a pardon to his son Hunter, yet many have expressed their concern, particularly after he previously vowed not to utilize presidential authority for the advantage of his family. 

Joe Biden Grants Pardon to Hunter: First lady Jill Biden has voiced her endorsement as US President Joe Biden declared that he has pardoned his son, Hunter Biden. Hunter was facing potential sentencing due to two felony cases related to firearms and tax violations. 

While addressing the public from the White House, First lady Jill Biden stated, “Of course I back the pardon for my son.” 


Joe Biden's choice to pardon his son has sparked considerable controversy, particularly since he had earlier assured against leveraging presidential power for his family’s benefit. Back in June, President Biden had explicitly dismissed any thoughts of a pardon or commutation for his son, informing journalists while Hunter was undergoing trial in the Delaware firearm case: “I adhere to the jury's verdict. I will honor that and I will not offer him a pardon.” 

This unexpected decision has emerged just weeks ahead of the impending sentencing and under two months prior to a prospective change in the presidency, with President-elect Donald Trump poised to assume office. The 82-year-old president remarked in a statement that the legal actions against his son for tax evasion and the falsification of a federal weapons acquisition form were driven by political motives.

US President-elect Donald Trump has condemned the actions of outgoing US President Joe Biden and remarked, “Does the pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 hostages, who have now been incarcerated for years? Such an abuse and a miscarriage of justice!,” he posted on Truth Social.
