Lok Sabha Elections: Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Uri and Balakot Surgeon General about the Vijay Sankalp protest in Rishikesh. The attack took place ten days after four militants attacked Indian troops in Uri in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir on September 18, 2016, killing 19 soldiers.

Prime Minister Modi affirmed that "Indian tricolor has become a guarantee of security even in war zones."

He also said that as long as the country's government is weak, the enemy will take advantage of it.

PM Modi said: “During Congress rule, the army did not have body armour. There is no plan to protect them from enemy bullets. "
