DNA samples collected from bodies burnt beyond recognition in Rajkot fire A senior police officer said that DNA samples were collected to identify those who died in the fire that broke out in Gujarat's Rajkot University area yesterday. He added that deceased Vinayak Patel was flown to Jamnagar for identification." Authorities said the park's owner and manager were arrested. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the accident site on Nana-Mawa Road and the hospital where the injured were admitted this morning.
The cause of the fire is unknown. The five-member special investigation team (SIT) constituted by the state government has been asked to submit its report within 72 hours.
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi arrived in Rajkot yesterday and held a morning meeting with SIT members led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Subhash Trivedi.
Mr. Sanghvi said that PM Modi sought information from the Prime Minister regarding the incident and ordered strict action against the culprits. Ahead of the meeting, ADGP Trivedi said that an investigation would be initiated immediately to identify the officials. "We will carefully investigate all aspects of the incident and conduct a thorough investigation... We will fulfill our commitment with honesty and integrity and seek justice for the children who lost their lives," he added, including Director BN Pani.
