Israel-Hamas war: Ceasefire talks expected to resume next week as pressure mounts on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Ceasefire negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which have been fighting in Gaza since October 7 last year, are scheduled to resume next week.

If the deal goes through, Hamas would release Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

Reuters, citing sources, said the decision was made after a meeting between the head of Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, the US CIA director and the Qatari prime minister.

"At the end of the meeting, it was decided that negotiations would begin next week with the active participation of the United States, based on new proposals from mediators Egypt and Qatar," the source said.
