Supreme Court refuses to entertain Hemant Soren's interim bail plea against ED arrest, pulls up ex-Jharkhand CM

Hemant Soren bail and two petitions for Supreme Court mean Hemant Soren, leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress-led Indian bloc Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is part of

- arrested in money laundering case - could not appeal. After he was arrested for not telling the truth, interim impeachment in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections (specifically, the special court in Ranchi that heard the complaint) and the Fourth Supreme Assembly was lifted.

Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, who attended the hearing on behalf of Mr. Şören, withdrew his defense after angrily warning that the court would not accept anything else. This means leaders of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, affiliated with the Congress-led Indian Bloc, will not be able to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Elections for 14 seats in Jharkhand will be held in four phases. Voting has been held for seven people, the rest will be voted in the sixth and seventh (final) phase between May 25 and June 1.

What will the Supreme Court say about Kapil Sibal today

In today's hearing, the court asked several tough questions to Mr. Sibal and also dismissed the tough petition for the arrest of JMM leader Hemant Soren, who was arrested by the Police and the Bureau. He claimed that as president, he hatched a scheme to purchase large amounts of land worth millions of rupees using information obtained from fake businesses and forged documents. After a special court in Ranchi rejected his bail application last week, the court today started proceedings to seek response from Mr. Sibal.

First, we need some clarification. You did not inform us that you have (already) submitted your application. We expect some honesty... Your customers should tell us this. "You cannot hide the facts from us," the bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Satish Chandra Sharma told the lawyers and their clients.

"You have lost a lot by your actions..." The court told Mr. Sibal that the mistake was his "personal responsibility... not my client's" .. ....I did. Do not lie to the court.

"Why is there no request for the findings to be taken (by the special court)?" asked Judge Datta Mr. Sibal and said: "Try your luck elsewhere." Revealing the "truth"?

Last month, the Jharkhand High Court rejected Mr. Soren's request for his arrest;

Previously, the Supreme Court had issued a notification to the central office and requested a response to the application for interim measures before issuing a stay of execution decision from the Supreme Court.

After the Supreme Court finally gave its decision, the Supreme Court closed the petition; Mr Soren specifically sought interim leave to await the Supreme Court's decision to vote for his party and the India Bloc in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Mr. Sibal said that for this reason, the request for permission should be heard along with the application, which is difficult to decide in the Supreme Court.
