Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar arrested-Swati Maliwal case
Arvind Kejriwal's aide, accused of assaulting Union Congress member Swati Maliwal, has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the case. In her flight report, Ms. Maliwal alleged that Delhi chief minister's secretary, Bibhav Kumar, assaulted her during a visit to Mr. Kejriwal's home on Monday.
A senior police officer said Mr. Kumar was received by the Delhi police from the chief minister's residence in the afternoon. He was taken to the police station for questioning.
Their lawyers said that although an e-mail was sent to the police to ensure full cooperation, they have not yet received any information from the police. Bibhav Kumar's lawyer Karan Sharma told news agency ANI: "We have not received any information from the police. We have emailed them that we will cooperate with the investigation.
Incident The Bharatiya Janata Party, along with its spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, criticized Mr. Kejriwal's silence. He went as far as labeling Mr. Kejriwal as a "criminal leader" in his absence during the protest.
He also accused AAP of protecting Mr. Kejriwal's personal secretary despite sufficient evidence against him. A video of the alleged attack on the Delhi Chief Minister's residence is still trending on social media, where an argument between the Chief Minister's residence staff and AAP Rajya Sabha MPs can be seen.
In the FIR, Ms. Maliwal blamed Bay. Kumar hit him in the chest, stomach and abdomen with his legs.
"I was frustrated and screamed for more help. I pushed him with my legs to protect myself. At that moment he jumped on me, pulled me roughly and deliberately pulled my shirt," writes the regional FIR. “Bibhav Kumar did not give up and attacked me by kicking my chest, stomach and pelvis.” As part of the investigation, Delhi Police may scan CCTV cameras at the President's residence. The crime scene was reconstructed at Mr. Kejriwal's house after the former DCW chief filed an FIR on Friday.
