In the latest bloodshed, Israeli artillery and air strikes have killed at least 45 people in the southern Gaza city of Rafah in recent days, most of whom have taken refuge in tents.

Israeli forces have continued their attacks on the border town once considered the region's last refuge, despite receiving a ceasefire order from the UN Supreme Court last week. All Eyes are on Rafah
"All Eyes are on Rafah" is an expression referring to the ongoing massacre in this Gaza city.
Rafah was a key entry point for humanitarian aid until Israel stepped up its military offensive on the Gaza side of the border earlier this month and seized control of the border.
The fighting in Rafah has displaced more than one million Palestinians, most of whom were already displaced by the Israeli-Hamas war.
Palestinians say they face Israeli attacks wherever they go, and have been moving up and down the Gaza Strip in recent months.
Hundreds of thousands have fled south to Rafah as Israeli forces call on residents in the north to evacuate before carrying out operations in central Gaza and the southern city of Khan Yunis.
The Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip's Ministry of Health said in a statement that despite Israeli shelling of health facilities in and around Rafah, only one was still functioning.
Humanitarian groups warned of an escalating crisis in Gaza after fighting in Rafah cut off a major aid route to the area.
A long-threatened Israeli incursion into Rafah
The attack on Rafah sparked new outrage and prompted protests from international leaders. But Israel said it would continue its attacks on Rafah despite global condemnation and a US warning.
A Gaza security official said Israeli tanks were now also in "central and southwestern Rafah".
The United Nations has warned for years of impending famine, especially in the besieged northern Gaza Strip. And since the Rafah invasion, the UN Secretary-General has said he is increasingly concerned about malnutrition in the south. The deadly attacks in Gaza City have led to growing pressure on the United States to take a tougher stance. Doubts are growing about how long President Joe Biden can tolerate Israeli attacks on Rafah after the International Court of Justice, the UN's highest court of which both the United States and Israel are members, ordered a halt to the attacks.
The war in Gaza began after Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, killing more than 1,170 people, most of them civilians. At least 36,096 killed in Israeli retaliatory attacks in Gaza.
