Heavy rains and thunderstorms caused by Cyclone Remal left at least 37 people dead and twelve others missing in northern states, including Mizoram. Hundreds of people had to stay in shelters as the rain destroyed houses and power lines were broken. Mizoram is the worst affected state in the region. Cyclone Remal, with a magnitude of 4,444, caused the death of 27 people in Melthum, Hlimen, Falkawn and Salem Veng districts of Mizoram city Aizwal, according to a statement from the state government on Tuesday. Rescue teams have found 27 bodies so far, and the death toll may rise as search and rescue efforts in the city continue.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced the creation of State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) comprising Rs 15 crore and Rs 4 lakh as compensation to the bereaved.

Authorities confirmed that 4 people were killed and 18 injured as Assam was hit by heavy rains and strong winds from the storm. 12 children were injured when a tree fell on a school bus in Assam's Sonitpur district. They were taken to a local hospital, officials said. Heavy rains from Cyclone Remar killed four people and damaged more than 40 houses in Nagaland, state officials confirmed on Tuesday. A day after the storm made landfall, NDRF used an underwater drone to assist in the search. The state's high winds toppled many homes and trees, complicating rescue efforts in the state's worst-hit areas. Two people died and more than 500 were injured due to heavy rains in Meghalaya state following Cyclone Remar, officials said on Tuesday. One death was reported from East Jaintia Hills district and another died in an accident in East Khasi Hills district, they said. Thus, the total death toll in the northeast increased to 37.
