Supreme Court officer Abhijit Gangopadhyay was banned from voting for 24 hours by the election commission for making sexist remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that it was a "fake film". "We do not agree with the existence of such videos," said BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya, adding, "This is TMC's idea to release fake videos and criticize the BJP. It will not affect the election." The former judges' claims in a video posted online have given Trinamool more ammunition since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'didi-di-di' in 2021 was criticized. The BJP has been labeled as a "protector of women".
Mr Gangopadhyay made headlines with his decision and clashed with lawyers, judges and senior leaders of Bangladesh's ruling Trinamool Congress party.
