Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kanniyakumari on May 30, where he will meditate till June 1, marking the end of a rigorous poll campaign. Modi will embark on a 45-hour long meditation session at the famed Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

As he embarked on his visit down south, a 33-year-old image of the Prime Minister at the same location started doing rounds on social media. The image, dated December 11, 1991, shows a young Narendra Modi alongside BJP veteran Dr Murli Manohar Joshi during the Ekta Yatra.

The picture, which resurfaced on social media, has generated considerable buzz and is being shared widely across social media platforms.  The Ekta Yatra, or Unity March, was launched in December 1991 from Kanniyakumari and culminated on January 26, 1992, with the hoisting of the national flag in Srinagar. It was led by Murli Manohar Joshi and organised by a young Narendra Modi.

The yatra sent a clear message to the nation and the world that, India would stand firm and united against the forces of division and terror.

Meanwhile, PM Modi will meditate from the evening of May 30 to the evening of June 1 at Dhyan Mandapam, the place where Vivekananda -- a spiritual icon admired by Modi -- is believed to have had a divine vision about 'Bharat Mata'.

The PM had undertaken a similar exercise in a Kedarnath cave after the 2019 poll campaign.

Voting will be held on June 1 in 47 parliamentary constituencies across seven states and the union territory of Chandigarh. A total of 904 candidates are contesting in this phase.
