Former Principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, has been suspended by the Health Department of West Bengal with immediate effect.
The Health Department of West Bengal took action on Tuesday by suspending the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. [Name]. Sandip Ghosh's employment was terminated immediately after he was arrested and an ongoing criminal investigation is underway regarding suspected financial misconduct at the government-owned establishment.
Due to the current criminal inquiry involving Professor \n Sandip Ghosh, former Head of RG Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata, Professor. Dr. Ghosh has been suspended under Rule 7(1c) of West Bengal Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1971 with immediate effect, according to an office order from the West Bengal Health Department.
Earlier today, a unique CBI court in Kolkata delivered Ghosh and three others to 8-day CBI custody, a day after they were detained in relation to purported financial discrepancies at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
On Monday, Ghosh and three others - Biplav Singha (a seller), Suman Hazar (a vendor), and Afsar Ali (additional security to Ghosh) were detained by the anti-corruption division of CBI for their involvement in suspected corruption and financial mismanagement at the state-owned institution.
The CBI had asked for a custody period of 10 days, but the special court only approved eight days of custody. All of the four defendants are scheduled to appear before the Special CBI Court once more on September 10th.
The ex-head of RG Kar Hospital was being looked into for suspected misconduct and financial improprieties at the institution after a ruling from a lone judge of the Calcutta High Court instructed the CBI to investigate the situation.
