15 employees of Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) were trapped after an elevator collapsed at the Kolihan mine in Nimukatana district of Rajasthan on Tuesday night. While 3 people have been rescued so far, rescue efforts are continuing for 12 people.
The three rescuers were identified as AK Sharma, Hans Ram and Pritam Singh. The remaining 12 people were identified as Upendra Pandey, Banendu Bhandari, Niranjan Sahoo, GD Gupta, Ramesh Narayan Singh, Vinod Singh Shekhawat, AK Baira, Arnav Bhabdari, Yashraj Meena, Vikas Pareek, Karan Gehlot and Bhagirath.
“An illegal team from Kolkata came under my control. The accident occurred around 20:00 in the evening while I was going up the elevator, the chain of the elevator broke and caused a major accident. Police officer Bhanwar Lal of Khetri station said that all 15 people were trapped at a depth of about 700 metres.
Police and NDRF teams were mobilized for the rescue operation, which lasted 12 hours. "Three rescue workers have been sent to Jaipur for treatment," the SHO said.
