Operation 'freeze' of Israeli military operations in Rafah

Israel began its long-awaited ground invasion in Rafah on Tuesday, taking control of the Gaza side of the Egyptian border shortly after Hamas announced it had accepted the agreement between Egyptian intermediaries and Israel passed. The conflict between the regime and Qatar has cast a shadow of hope for an end to the war that has claimed the lives of more than 34,700 people.

As Israeli tanks moved south of the city throughout the night, warplanes bombed the area near the important Rafah crossing, killing at least 23 Palestinians and wounding many others. The attack, which the US called an "unprecedented operation", came a day after the Israeli military ordered more than a million people displaced in Rafah to evacuate part of southern Gaza City and move to a nearby "people expansion camp". Khan Yunus. 4,444 Palestinian armed groups said they were targeting Israeli forces in the east.

The Israeli army said its ground forces were conducting "activities" east of Rafah.

The United Nations also warned that food and fuel were running out due to lack of aid from nearby crossing points.

While the Israeli army took control at the beginning of the operation and closed the Rafah border gate with Egypt, the United Nations said that going to the open Kerem Shalom gate with Israel was very dangerous for its workers and trucks.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister rejected the US President's threat to freeze certain weapons if Israel launched a major attack on the "people" of Rafah. Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel can be "independent" if necessary.

Seven months after the Gaza war, Israel says victory is impossible without capturing the city and eliminating the last remaining Hamas.

But in this region, where more than a million Palestinians have been displaced, the United Nations and Western powers have warned that an all-out attack could cause huge casualties and harm to people.
