Allies of NDA condemned Assam's Himanta Sarma for the controversy Jumma Break.

Allies of the NDA have condemned Assam's Himanta Sarma for the controversy surrounding the Jumma holiday.

Leaders from the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), important allies of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), expressed disapproval of the Assam Assembly's move to abolish the two-hour break for Jumma prayers. Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma supported the decision, while JD(U) and LJP leaders expressed their opinions on the matter.

Neeraj Kumar, a leader of JD(U), expressed that the Assam Assembly's decision goes against the principles of the Constitution. He went as far as to inquire Sarma about putting an end to the 'Bali Pratha' ritual at the Kamakhya Temple in Assam.

"I want to urge the Assam chief minister to consider banning the namaz break on Fridays in order to boost productivity. It is important to respect the Hindu religion, such as keeping the doors of the Kamakhya Temple open during sacrificial rituals. Can we put an end to this 'Bali Pratha'? Attacking religious practices is not acceptable," stated Neeraj Kumar in an interview with news agency ANI.
