Donald Trump continues racist attack on Kamala Harris: "Love for Indian heritage"
2024 US Presidential election: Former US President Donald Trump continues to question Vice President Kamala Harris' ethnic identity.
A day after former US President Donald Trump questioned Vice President Kamala Harris' ethnic identity, the Republican candidate continued to question her "Indian" appearance.
On his official Truth Social account, he shared a photo of Harris in a sari and her family.
"Thank you Kamala for sending me this beautiful photo all these years ago! I am so grateful for your warmth, friendship and love for Indian heritage," he captioned the post.
What did Donald Trump say?
"She's always been Indian and she's always just promoted her Indian ancestry. I didn't know she was black until I found out a few years ago that she was black. And now she wants to be known as black. So I don't know, is she Native American or is she black?" Trump said.
"I respect both, but she clearly isn't. She's been Indian her whole life and then all of a sudden she's made a U-turn and she's black. I think somebody should look at that as well," he said, according to CNN. How did Kamala Harris respond?
Harris responded forcefully to Trump's comments, saying the American people "deserve better." She stressed that the country faces a critical choice between two opposing visions and accused President Trump and his election team of trying to take the country "backwards." "At this moment, we have to choose between two very different visions for our nation: one that focuses on the future, the other that focuses on the past. And those of us in this room are fighting for the future. As we work to move our country forward, there are those who want to push us back. You may have seen their agenda, they call it Project 2025, and it's a 900-page extremist agenda," she said. "There's no going back. We all remember what those four years were like, and today we were reminded of that again. This afternoon, Donald Trump spoke at the National Association of Black Journalists' annual conference, but it was the same old show of division and disrespect. Let me just say this: the American people deserve better,” she added.
