Hamas fires rockets at Tel Aviv after 19 killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza

Hamas fired two missiles at Tel Aviv, Israel's commercial capital, on Tuesday after Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed at least 19 Palestinians. It was the first time since May, when Hamas last claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks in Tel Aviv.

The report shows that there were no casualties in Israel due to rockets fired from Gaza, the Israeli military said. One of the rockets fell into the sea, while the other did not reach Israeli territory. Separately, Israeli airstrikes killed 19 Palestinians in the central and southern Gaza Strip today.

At least six people were killed in an airstrike in Deir Al-Balah, including a mother and her four-day-old twins, while another seven Palestinians were killed in an attack on a house in the nearby Al-Bureij camp.

The report said four people were killed in two separate attacks on Al-Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip and Rafah in the south, and two were killed in an attack on a house in the neighborhood of Sheikh Radwan in northern Gaza City. The Israeli army, Islamic Jihad and Hamas said they were fighting in several areas of Gaza. The Israeli army said it killed Palestinian gunmen and dismantled military facilities in Khan Younis, found weapons and explosives in Rafah and hit rocket launchers and sniper posts in central Gaza.

Ceasefire talks

Earlier on Monday, the United States said that ceasefire talks in Gaza scheduled for Thursday would go ahead as planned and that a deal was still possible. According to a media report, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken plans to visit Qatar, Egypt and Israel on Tuesday for talks.

The Israeli government said it would send a delegation to Thursday's talks to finalize the details of the proposed deal.

Hamas, however, is looking for a workable plan to implement the proposal, presented by US President Joe Biden in May - rather than more negotiations.
